Dog Training & Behaviour Coaching with Adele Curran
What can I do for you?
I'm Adele, a Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant based in Christchurch, New Zealand. My job is to support you in strengthening the bond, communication, understanding, and responsiveness you have with your dog to improve behaviour outcomes at every stage of life.
If things have been tough, or you're looking for tailored guidance and clear instruction for bettering your situation, we can work together to ensure you're on track for a happier household.
If you're a prospective or new puppy guardian, let's together to make the puppy-raising process a little easier while building core foundational skills.
If you have recently adopted a dog from a council-run animal shelter, the SPCA, or a known rescue group, I offer discounted training. I have 8 years of experience working with rescue dogs at Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue, as a Behaviour Consultant for the SPCA, and through fostering high needs dogs in my own home. If you're looking for the best start to life with your new rescue dog, I'm your gal!

“Amazing consultation with Adele! Adele offers generous knowledge, kindness, understanding, empathy and patience. Her guidance, support and reassurance have enabled me to be equipped with the tools to best support and coach my dog with compassion, efficacy and joy. Very highly recommended by this content guardian and content dog!"

“I was convinced that my dog would always need to be on a lead due to her high prey drive and zero recall.
We now enjoy no lead time, especially down the beach (the very place she was the worst) due to a high trust relationship. Our trainer Adele taught us so much in such a short time, and I am extremely grateful. Finally, I have the tools and techniques to be confident, and the best part is the improvement in our relationship (between my dog and me). Truly life-changing and highly recommended. My dog is super happy now, and so am I!"
- Danette
“Our anxious 4 year old dog has been attending classes with three other anxious dogs, over recent weeks. The progress made under the care, expertise and patience of our trainer, Adele, has been impressive, to say the least...
None of this progress would have been possible without Adele’s knowledge, skill and understanding - from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much!"
- Elizabeth
“Being first dog owners, we really appreciated Adeles approach with puppyhood! No question was left unanswered. Socialisation classes were small and managed so as owners we learnt basic body language to look out for which has been so valuable to understand Maggie. Having a puppy and 2 cats at home has had its challenges but we are on the road for success✨️🙌"

“I have completed a number of life skills classes with my now 1 yr old retrodoodle, Milo. Adele has been fantastic in helping me understand more about dog psychology and tailoring our sessions to Milo's, and my, developing needs. Highly recommend!"
- Gillian
“I highly recommend training with Adele. We found out our dog is deaf and Adele was so helpful as we learned how to train her. The sessions were fun and we had better results than we ever imagined. Thanks so much."

Frequently asked questions
What happens in the first session?
In our first session, I'll work with you in a judgement-free, supportive environment where you can share your concerns, challenges, and goals you have with your dog. I'll listen to your experiences, ask questions, and help you gain insight into your situation. I will teach you about what dogs need, and how they experience the world. Together, we can create a plan of action so you're on the right track to a happy household, all with continued support so we can troubleshoot potential challenges as they arise and keep you on the path to success. After our initial session, if you have decided on a package, I will write up a detailed step-by-step training plan.
How much does it cost?
The cost of working with me varies depending on the services you require. I offer a range of packages and sessions to meet your needs, and hopefully your budget. You can contact me directly for more information on pricing and to discuss your options, or otherwise check out my services page. If you're experiencing financial hardship and are seeking support, I encourage you to get in contact to discuss potential options.
Do I join online or in person?
I offer both online and in-person sessions. You can choose the option that best suits your needs and preferences. For behavioural cases, I highly encourage the initial session to be online for the best outcomes.
How can you make a difference?
I have a unique blend of expertise and experience working with both dogs and humans, with a bigger-picture perspective on how you can reach your goals all while supporting your dogs emotional wellbeing and strengthening your bond. With years of both hands on experience with dogs of all ages and walks of life, formal study both completed and ongoing, credentialing and accreditations, I have both a science-based and empathy-based understanding of both dogs and their humans. I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs and goals. With my support, you can learn to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and find greater fulfillment in your life with your dog.
